Past Experience

As I look back on my life, I can clearly see the plan that God has prepared for me with the City of Chelsea. In July, 1986, One month after I married the love of my life, Don King, I joined the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department. Don and I were very active in the department. I became a first responder to run wreck/medical calls, was voted vice president of the women's auxiliary, and also voted to uphold the department's treasurers position.

As the department grew and the Town of Chelsea was formed, there became a need for our community to have a paid department instead of relying on volunteers. It was then merged with the town and later became Chelsea Fire and Rescue. I was hired by Mayor Niven, October 1, 2000, to carry on my duties of the fire department and other duties of the town. Our office was held on the 2nd floor of the First National Bank building (currently Renasant Bank). With very little space, we carried on the business there for several years.

In 2006 our beautiful City Hall was built. In this building I have held several different positions over the years, including:

  • Accounts Payable Clerk
  • Accounts Receivables Clerk
  • Fire Clerk
  • Library Assistant
  • Receptionist

Current Responsibilities

Just recently (October 2013) I was appointed the City Treasurer for the City of Chelsea. This job is primarily responsible for:

  • Assisting auditors
  • Banking
  • Capital projects
  • Disbursements of municipal funds
  • Employee personnel files
  • Managing the revenue and cash flow of the City
  • Payroll
  • Reporting of monthly/yearly reports

I am very proud and honored to uphold this position and look forward to what the future holds for me with the City of Chelsea!

Biography

I was born and raised in Chelsea and have always been fortunate to live by family. My family and my faith are two very important things to me. As many know, my world revolves around my two beautiful daughters, Cindy (Kevin) and Kristen (RJ). In my spare time I love to travel or just relax at home.

May God bless each and every one of you, as you make the City of Chelsea your home!
