The Chelsea Parks & Rec Softball Program was established to provide girls in the Chelsea community the opportunity to have FUN in a team environment.

Our goal for the CP&R softball program is to be good role models on and off the field.  We teach the importance of good sportsmanship and the importance of teamwork.  We strive to put good coaches in place to instruct the girls in the fundamentals of softball.  We have both a spring and fall league, with ages from 5-12.

Our program has grown over the past few years as new families move into our great community.  The spring league usually has over 180 girls and the fall league around 80.  Chelsea Youth softball is associated with the National Softball Association https://playnsa.com/

We are also very proud of our new Chelsea Softball Complex, off of Hwy 39 at the Chelsea Recreation Park.  This park was constructed by the city for softball play.

The spring softball season begins in mid to late February with evaluations for each age group.  Girls are evaluated on fielding, throwing, catching fly balls, and overall knowledge of the game.  Coaches are selected prior to evaluations and then teams are drafted.  After that, the parents of the players are notified and practice normally starts in March.  Teams can practice up to three times per week prior to the season starting.  After the season begins, practices are usually one night per week, one game is held during the week, and one game is on Sunday afternoon.  The season usually ends in mid-May.

The fall softball season begins in September.  There are no evaluations held during fall ball.  Our fall season is operated in a very laid-back atmosphere.  This is a great opportunity for girls to be introduced to the sport who have never played before.  It is also a great time for girls to improve their skills and get ready for the spring season.  Teams will have up to two practices during the week with one game on Sunday afternoon.  The season usually lasts 6 -8 weeks, ending in late October.
