Annexation Process
Annexation Process
If the property is contiguous to the City of Chelsea, it is eligible for annexation. The annexation process is as follows:
Property owner completes the Petition for Annexation
Petition for Annexation has to be signed by each property owner (EXAMPLE: If the parcel is owned by a married couple, both must sign)
A legal description of the property (recorded deed) showing the instrument #, map book #, and Parcel ID #
City Clerk will prepare the annexation ordinance and associated documents needed to present the petition to the City Council
Once City Council approves the annexation, the ordinance shall be posted for 5 business days at the regular posting locations
City Clerk will record the annexation with the Judge of Probate
