Rezoning Process

  • Application for Rezoning is completed and submitted to City Clerk
  • The Rezoning Application is presented and reviewed by the Planning Commission at the next available meeting
  • Public Hearing is scheduled, advertised and posted to the upcoming Planning Commission meeting
  • Letters to the adjoining property owners are mailed advising them of the public hearing
  • Planning Commission reviews and recommends the petition for rezoning to the City Council
  • Public Hearing is scheduled, advertised and posted to the upcoming City Council meeting
  • Letters to the adjoining property owners are mailed advising them of the public hearing
  • City Clerk prepares the ordinance for City Council approval
  • Ordinance is posted for five business days at the regular posting locations
  • The City of Chelsea's zoning map will be updated to reflect the change in zoning classification
