4. How/where do I get an absentee ballot?

Contact City Hall (205) 678-8455, or see documents below to download the application. Absentee Ballots will be available at City Hall starting on June 1st.

5. When is the last day my absentee ballot can be received?

• The ballot may be HAND DELIVERED to the Absentee Election Manager's office by 4PM on July 11th, 2022.
• The ballot must be returned BY MAIL to the Absentee Election Manager's office by 12PM (Noon) on the Day of Election.

6. Can I mail all of my family's absentee ballots in the same envelope?

NO - the application for absentee ballots AND the actual ballots must be in separate envelopes. (AG Opinion #82-551)

7. Can I hand deliver my absentee ballot and my spouse's absentee ballot?

NO - The ballot must be submitted by the voter themselves. (AG Opinion #90-387)

8. Does my absentee ballot have to be notarized?

YES - The ballot itself isn't notarized but the affidavit envelope it is put in needs to either be notarized or signed by two witnesses.

If you get the affidavit envelope notarized, the "title" for whomever signs it should be NOTARY, not Bank Manager, City Clerk, etc.  The title MUST say Notary & the commission expiration date must be on it.
